How do I cancel Datadog?

From $15 / host / month Monitoring Pro · billed via web, invoice
2 min Self-serve No fee To cancel
Short answer

Cancel Datadog from Plan & Usage, then the Plan tab, signed in as an Admin, by downgrading to the Free plan. It takes about two minutes. The public docs do not say when paid usage stops after that downgrade, beyond Datadog's monthly billing cycle. Refunds are not a general self-serve option.

Step-by-step instructions

Invoice and committed Order customers should use their Customer Success Manager or a Support disablement request, not only the Plan tab.

1
Keep an Admin on the change

Standard and Read Only users cannot manage billing. Adding or removing paid features that are not part of standard plans goes through your account representative or [email protected].

2
Contract customers give notice or request disablement

To stop auto-renewal, ask your Customer Success Manager at least 15 days before the Order Term ends, or change the plan inside the Services. To stop further spend, submit a Support request to disable the account and name the disablement date.

3
Disabling the organization is a support request

To disable the Datadog organization itself, contact Datadog support. That is separate from downgrading to Free.

Refunds, downgrades, pausing and your data

Four questions people ask before they cancel
Can I get my money back?

Self-serve billing docs do not offer a general refund window. The Master Subscription Agreement refunds a pro rata share of unused prepaid amounts only if the customer terminates for the availability commitment or for cause, or Datadog terminates an infringing service. Otherwise committed fees for the full Order term remain payable.

See policy
Is there a cheaper way to stay?

Administrators upgrade or downgrade from the Plan tab. Downgrading to Free is the documented way to stop card billing before removing the card. Free keeps up to 5 hosts and 1-day metric retention. When that downgrade stops billed usage is not published beyond the monthly cycle.

Free tier exists
Can I pause instead of cancel?

No subscription pause or billing-hold option is documented on the current Plan & Usage, credit-card, billing or Master Subscription Agreement pages.

Not available
What happens to my account data?

Paid infrastructure metrics keep tags and values for 15 months. Free keeps 1 day. Log retention follows the customer's plan. After an Order ends, a designated user may download Customer Data for up to 30 days if all amounts are paid. Earlier deletion is an organization deletion request to [email protected]. Disabling the organization is done through Datadog support.

Frequently asked questions

Answers checked with the steps above
Who can cancel or downgrade Datadog?

A Datadog Admin, or a custom role with billing_edit. Billing pages are not available to Standard or Read Only users.

Does downgrading to Free stop charges immediately?

The public docs do not say. Datadog bills on a monthly cycle that starts the first of the month UTC and collects payment near the 10th business day.

Can I get a Datadog refund?

Not as a general self-serve policy. The subscription agreement only refunds unused prepaid amounts in listed termination cases. Otherwise committed fees stay payable.

How do contract customers stop Datadog?

Ask the Customer Success Manager at least 15 days before the Order Term ends, change the plan inside the Services, or submit a Support request to disable the account on a named date.

Does Datadog keep a free plan after I cancel?

Yes. Downgrading to Free leaves the organization on the $0 plan: up to 5 hosts and 1-day metric retention. Fully disabling the organization requires Datadog support.

Can I pause Datadog instead of cancelling?

No pause option is documented.
