How do I cancel a subscription billed by Google?
If a charge on your statement says Google and you cannot tell which product it is for, Google is billing you directly, and every subscription billed that way sits in one list in your Google payments profile. Subscriptions bought through Google Play are not in that list: those are cancelled in your Google Play subscriptions, and the Android hub is linked with the other hubs at the foot of this page.
The steps below are Google's own, taken from Google Pay Help. Underneath them is a guide for every service in our catalogue billed this way, with the plan prices, the refund rules and what happens to your account after you stop paying.
The Google account route, whatever the subscription is
One list holds every recurring charge Google bills you for, so these steps work even when you do not know which Google product started the charge.
Sign in to Subscriptions in your Google payments profile at payments.google.com. If this is not the Google Account that has your subscriptions, switch to the correct account first.
Find the subscription you want to cancel, then select Manage.
Select Cancel subscription. If that option is unavailable, go to the Google product you subscribed to and select Manage subscription, where you can cancel it. If both options are unavailable, cancel through the subscription provider.
Sign in to Subscriptions again and, at the top of the page, select Canceled. A subscription you have cancelled is listed there.
If you cancel a subscription, any payments you've already made won't be refunded, and cancellations can't be undone, although you can always re-subscribe.

The charge says Google. How do I find out what it is for?
Sign in to Subscriptions in your Google payments profile: Google describes it as where you find, manage, cancel and pay early for recurring charges on subscriptions and other services, listed under Subscriptions & services. If the subscription is not there, check that you are signed in to the Google Account that has your subscriptions; Google also points out that the email you use with the subscription app can be different from your Google Account, so check your other email accounts for the receipt to find where you added it.
There is no Cancel subscription option on my subscription.
Google documents the fallback. If the Cancel subscription option is unavailable, go to the Google product you subscribed to and select Manage subscription; you can cancel the subscription there. If both options are unavailable, Google says to cancel through the subscription provider.
Do I get a refund if I cancel?
No. Google says that if you cancel a subscription, any payments you've already made won't be refunded, and that cancellations can't be undone, although you can always re-subscribe. The Google payments centre puts it the same way: you cannot get refunds if you cancel a subscription, cancellations are final, but you can re-subscribe to a service.
How do I check that a subscription really is cancelled?
Sign in to Subscriptions and, at the top of the page, select Canceled. Google lists the subscriptions you have cancelled there, so it is the quickest confirmation that the charge has stopped.
Can I do this from my phone?
Yes. Google documents the same route on Android: sign in to Subscriptions, find the subscription you want to cancel, select Manage, then select Cancel subscription.
My Google Account also has a subscriptions page. Is that the same list?
It overlaps, but Unlink is not a cancellation. In your Google Account you click Wallet & subscriptions and then Manage subscriptions, which shows linked content such as Google Play subscriptions, YouTube subscriptions and news subscriptions you connect to your Google Account, and Google Play Help sends Android users down that same path to find a Play subscription: open the Settings app, tap Google, your name, Manage your Google Account, then Payments & subscriptions and Manage subscriptions. What that page's Unlink action does not do is stop a charge: Google says your subscription won't be canceled or changed by it.
