Step-by-step instructions

Self-serve cancel is Delete Account on the Billing Plan tab, not a plan downgrade.

1
Sign in as an Account Owner

Account Owners manage billing. Self-signup accounts cancel from the Billing page.

2
Open Billing, then the Plan tab

The pricing FAQ also names Settings, Billing, Plans. The Billing Center documents Delete Account on the Plan tab.

3
Click Delete Account

Permanently deleted accounts immediately cease billing and are scheduled for full deletion within 72 hours. You cannot reactivate that account.

Delete Account permanently deletes the Temporal Cloud account. Billing stops immediately. You cannot restore that account.

Refunds, downgrades, pausing and your data

Four questions people ask before they cancel
Can I get my money back?

Temporal's terms say you have no right to return the Services and that all Fees are non-refundable except as otherwise set forth in those terms. If you terminate for Temporal's uncured material breach, you are entitled to a refund of prepaid unused Fees. Intellectual-property termination under the indemnity clause has the same prepaid-unused refund. The SLA offers service credits against later invoices, not a cash refund of subscription fees.

No refunds
Is there a cheaper way to stay?

Essentials and Business can be upgraded or downgraded self-serve on the Plans tab. Upgrades process immediately and are billed pro-rata for that period, with full upgrade entitlements for the month; after an upgrade, a downgrade cannot be processed until the following billing period. Downgrade requests process immediately, with billing and entitlements backdated to the beginning of the billing period. Delete Account is not a plan downgrade: it deletes the account. Open-source self-hosted Temporal remains available separately.

Can I pause instead of cancel?

No subscription pause option is documented. You can change Essentials and Business plans in billing settings. Unused commitment credits may roll over when you renew at the same or greater commitment; that is not a pause.

What happens to my account data?

The Billing Center says a self-serve Delete Account stops billing immediately and schedules full deletion within 72 hours. Account Data and Active Storage are permanently deleted; Retained Storage follows its configured retention period. Once canceled, account data cannot be restored. Temporal's terms also say Temporal will retain Customer Data for up to 30 days after the Order ends, then delete it irretrievably.
