Refunds, downgrades, pausing and your data

Four questions people ask before they cancel
Can I get my money back?

Mailchimp generally does not issue refunds unless a system malfunction caused a problem or Mailchimp terminated the account without cause. Its terms separately describe a 60-day money-back guarantee for annual Paid Marketing Plans.

Case by case
Is there a cheaper way to stay?

A paid Marketing plan can be downgraded from the Monthly Plans or Credits page in Billing. The change takes effect at the end of the billing cycle. A move to Free is available only while the account meets Mailchimp's current Free-plan limits and eligibility rules.

Can I pause instead of cancel?

An eligible monthly Marketing plan can be paused for 3 or 6 months, with no more than two pauses in a 12-month period. Pausing stops monthly billing, retains data and still allows limited account work. The Websites plan remains active.

What happens to my account data?

Permanent account deletion removes data associated with audiences, campaign archives and reports and cannot be restored. Mailchimp recommends exporting a backup before deletion and requires any outstanding balance to be paid.

Frequently asked questions

Answers checked with the steps above
Does Mailchimp cancel immediately?

Permanent account deletion is immediate. A downgrade to a lower paid plan or Free normally takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle.

Can I stop Mailchimp billing without deleting my data?

Yes. Eligible monthly Marketing plans can be paused for 3 or 6 months, and a lower plan or Free may be available through Billing.

Can I get a Mailchimp refund?

Mailchimp generally issues no refund except for a system malfunction or an account termination without cause. Its terms separately provide a 60-day guarantee for annual Paid Marketing Plans.

How often can I pause Mailchimp?

Mailchimp limits eligible monthly Marketing plans to two pauses in any 12-month period, each lasting either 3 or 6 months.

Will Mailchimp keep my data after deletion?

No. Permanent deletion removes audience, campaign archive and report data and the account cannot be restored.

Why is there no single Mailchimp plan price here?

The monthly bill depends on the Marketing plan, contact tier, send limits and any current offer, so the published starting offer is not a fixed price for every account.
