Refunds, downgrades, pausing and your data

Four questions people ask before they cancel
Can I get my money back?

The Terms say services are non-cancellable and fees are non-refundable except where otherwise provided. The tariff refunds full months only, except a 30-day money-back guarantee for shared hosting. Virtual private, dedicated, Storm and colocation plans are excluded from that guarantee. Setup fees are not refundable.

Case by case
Is there a cheaper way to stay?

The VPS page says you can scale a VPS up or down from the command line or management dashboard. Promotional discounts do not apply to upgrades of existing VPS servers.

Can I pause instead of cancel?

No server-pause option is documented. The documented way to stop billing is Destroy Server, which is permanent.

What happens to my account data?

Destroying a server is permanent and irreversible. Liquid Web says there is no way to recover those files. You are responsible for backups. Closing the entire account is also described as permanent and is processed by Support.

Frequently asked questions

Answers checked with the steps above
How do I cancel a Liquid Web server?

In the Account Portal open My Servers, use the three-dot menu, choose Destroy Server, then Cancel without assistance after backing up.

Does that close my whole account?

No. Destroying servers is self-serve. Closing the entire account requires a Support case.

Can I get a refund?

Generally no. The Terms say fees are non-refundable. The tariff's 30-day money-back guarantee applies to shared hosting only, not VPS or dedicated.

Is there a notice period?

The portal destroy flow does not document a wait. The Terms require 30 days written notice to stop auto-renewal or to terminate an Order for convenience, with early-termination charges on remaining committed term.

What if I still have contract months left?

Early termination charges can equal 100% of remaining monthly recurring charges for flat-rated services, plus supplier costs and unpaid invoices.
