How do I cancel Sentry?

$29 / month $312 / year Monitoring Team · billed via web
1 min Self-serve No fee To cancel
Short answer

Cancel Sentry from Settings, then Subscription under Usage & Billing, signed in as a Billing-role user or Org Owner, by downgrading to the free Developer plan. It takes about a minute and the change is processed at the end of the current contract cycle, so paid features last until the term ends. Downgrades and cancellations cannot be refunded.

What you are cancelling

Step-by-step instructions

Sentry's help-center cancellation articles sit behind a sign-in wall, so the flow above follows the public docs: Settings → Subscription, Billing/Owner role required, effective at the end of the contract cycle.

1
Sign in with a Billing or Owner account

Only Billing-role users and Org Owners can change the subscription. Members, Admins and Managers see limited details only.

2
Open Settings, then Subscription

In your organization's Settings, click Subscription under the "Usage & Billing" heading.

3
Downgrade to the free Developer plan

Change your plan off the paid tier. Sentry states you revert to the base Developer plan at the end of your current contract; the exact button labels are not published in the docs.

4
Note when it takes effect

Downgrades and cancellations are processed at the end of the current contract cycle - monthly or annual - so paid features last until the term ends.

Refunds, downgrades, pausing and your data

Four questions people ask before they cancel
Can I get my money back?

Sentry's billing docs state that plan downgrades and cancellations are processed at the end of the current contract cycle and cannot be refunded. Upgrades take effect immediately.

No refunds
Is there a cheaper way to stay?

After cancelling you revert to the free Developer plan at the end of the contract cycle: one user, 5k errors and 5M spans per month. Data sent beyond plan volume is dropped, not charged. Retention is set at ingest time, so existing events keep their paid-plan retention while new data gets the Developer plan's 30 days.

Free tier exists
Can I pause instead of cancel?

No pause option is documented in the publicly accessible docs. (A help-center article on pausing exists but is behind a sign-in wall.)

Not available
What happens to my account data?

Errors, replays and attachments are retained 90 days on paid plans and 30 days on the free Developer plan; logs, profiles and crons keep 30 days everywhere. Data past retention becomes inaccessible. Removing an organization queues it for deletion; closing your user account removes associated data after a 24-hour wait, and a sole-owner's organization is deleted with it.

Frequently asked questions

Answers checked with the steps above
When does my cancellation take effect?

At the end of the current contract cycle, whether you pay monthly or annually. You keep paid features until that date.

Can I get a refund for the remaining time?

No. Downgrades and cancellations are processed at the end of the contract cycle and cannot be refunded.

What happens to my event data after I downgrade?

Retention is set at ingest time: stored events keep their original retention, new data on the Developer plan gets 30 days, and data past retention becomes inaccessible.

Who in my organization can cancel the subscription?

Only users with the Billing role or Org Owners.

Will I be charged if I go over my quota instead of upgrading?

No. Data beyond your reserved volume and pay-as-you-go budget is dropped without charge - but monitoring stops for the rest of the cycle.

Can I keep using Sentry for free after cancelling?

Yes. You revert to the free Developer plan: one user, 5k errors and 5M spans per month, forever.
