What happens to my account data?

Closing the account deletes resources, services and backups but keeps billing information, invoices and security settings. The separate GDPR erase request permanently deletes logs, historic data, account settings and personal data and can take up to 72 hours, and it fails if resources remain or invoices are unpaid.

Frequently asked questions

Answers checked with the steps above
What is the difference between closing a Scaleway account and erasing it?

Close account deletes resources but keeps console access and account settings. Erase personal data is a separate irreversible GDPR request after resources are gone and invoices are paid.

When does Scaleway stop billing after I close the account?

Delete resources first. Remaining resources can still be billed for up to 10 days.

Does powering off a Scaleway Instance stop all charges?

No. Powered-off Instances still bill volumes and any reserved flexible IP.

Can I reopen a closed Scaleway account?

Yes. You keep console access and can open a support ticket to reopen.

Are Scaleway Virtual Instance prices in USD?

No. The official Virtual Instances price list is in EUR before tax.
