Step-by-step instructions

Start termination on the employee profile, then send written notice to [email protected].

1
Submit an Employee Termination request

Company Owners and Super Admins open the employee profile from Team overview, choose Manage Profile, then New Request, and select Employee Termination. Complete the form and submit it. Do not tell the employee first.

2
Wait for Remote's offboarding review

Remote may take up to five business days to advise next steps. Remote then handles benefits, final pay, and a confirmation email, and issues the company's final invoice.

3
Send 30 days' written notice

Email [email protected] with at least 30 days' prior written notice to terminate the Terms of Service. Offboard every employee hired through Remote, preferably via resignation.

4
Request company account deletion if eligible

After workers are offboarded, follow How do I delete my Remote account? Full deletion is only listed when no invited people have logged in. Hired employees are archived instead of fully erased.

Cancellation message

Remote requires 30 days written notice - send this to [email protected].

Remote requires 30 days notice - your reminder will land 32 days before the renewal date you enter. Remote's Terms of Service let either party terminate for convenience with at least 30 days' prior written notice. Remaining employees still need a compliant offboarding.

Works with Apple, Google and Outlook calendars. Your renewal date shows in Remote's billing settings.

Refunds, downgrades, pausing and your data

Four questions people ask before they cancel
Can I get my money back?

Remote's Terms of Service require Fees paid in full without set-off and do not publish a refund of unused management fees. Invoices are due within 14 days unless a Service Term says otherwise. After offboarding, Remote issues a final invoice.

See policy
Is there a cheaper way to stay?

There is no documented self-serve downgrade from EOR to a cheaper employment product. Contractor Management Plus can end at the end of the month after notice, then the standard Contractor Management fee applies. You stop EOR fees by offboarding employees.

Can I pause instead of cancel?

What happens to my account data?

If nobody invited has logged in, Remote may delete the company account. If someone created an account but was never hired, Remote can soft-delete and erase personal data within six calendar months. After a hire or a paid contractor invoice, Remote cannot delete all personal data and instead archives the profile until statutory retention ends.
