Short answer

Cancel Asana from the Admin console: open the Billing tab and select Cancel plan under Plan details; a billing owner, admin or super admin can do this. It takes about a minute, takes effect at the next renewal date, and the workspace then moves to the free Asana Personal tier. Amounts due are non-cancelable and non-refundable under Asana's Subscriber Terms.

Step-by-step instructions

Online subscriptions can be canceled from the Admin console by a billing owner, admin or super admin.

1
Open the Admin console

Click your profile photo in the top-right corner and select Admin console for the paid organization or workspace.

2
Open Billing

Navigate to the Billing tab. A billing owner, admin or super admin can cancel the paid subscription.

3
Select Cancel plan

Under Plan details, select Cancel plan and complete the confirmation. The cancellation is scheduled for the next renewal date.

4
Prepare for Asana Personal

At the end of the current subscription period, the workspace moves to the free Personal tier and loses paid features. Export any projects that depend on paid features before then.

A downgrade keeps data but removes access to paid features, including some projects and tasks that use those features.

Refunds, downgrades, pausing and your data

Four questions people ask before they cancel
Can I get my money back?

Asana's Subscriber Terms say amounts due are non-cancelable and non-refundable unless the agreement provides otherwise. Canceling normally stops the next renewal rather than refunding unused time in the current term.

No refunds
Is there a cheaper way to stay?

Cancellation takes effect at the next renewal and moves the paid organization or workspace to Asana Personal. Data is not deleted, but paid features and access to work that depends on them may be restricted. CSV export remains available.

Free tier exists
Can I pause instead of cancel?

No subscription pause option is documented. Downgrade to Asana Personal if you want to keep basic access without renewing a paid plan.

Not available
What happens to my account data?

Canceling or downgrading does not delete workspace data. Account deletion is permanent and is processed within 30 days. Organization or workspace deletion is irreversible, can take up to 90 days, and Asana says all associated data is cleared from systems within 180 days.
