Step-by-step instructions
Check whether the plan is recurring Apple billing, a fixed-term plan, or coverage billed by a carrier or reseller.
Use AppleCare & Warranty settings, account.apple.com subscriptions or Report a Problem. Apple says these methods end coverage immediately.
For an eligible Apple-purchased fixed-term plan, use the online Hardware Coverage and Cancel an AppleCare Plan route, or contact Apple.
Open Settings, choose General, then AppleCare & Warranty and select the covered device.

Turning off the next renewal keeps coverage through the paid month or year with no cancellation refund. A fixed-term plan cancelled within 30 days receives a full refund less benefits provided; after 30 days the refund is prorated and reduced by benefits provided, subject to state variations.
No lower or free AppleCare+ tier or scheduled downgrade is documented. An eligible Apple-purchased fixed-term plan can be replaced by AppleCare One; Apple says the original plan is then cancelled and unused coverage is refunded under its rules.
