Refunds, downgrades, pausing and your data

Four questions people ask before they cancel
Can I get my money back?

Missive's billing docs offer a full refund, no questions asked, if you subscribe to a paid plan and are not satisfied and contact them within 30 days. The Billing FAQ restates that as a refund of the first payment within 30 days. Yearly subscriptions are a 12-month commitment and Missive does not offer refunds on them. Removing a user from an annual plan does not refund remaining months.

Refund possible
Is there a cheaper way to stay?

The owner can change plans from Settings > Billing, including switching to Free. On a yearly plan, switching to Free before the renewal date stops the next yearly charge; the current yearly period still runs to its end with no mid-cycle refund. Yearly tier downgrades take effect at the end of the current yearly billing cycle. Upgrades take effect immediately with a prorated charge.

Can I pause instead of cancel?

No pause option is documented on the pricing, billing, or billing FAQ pages fetched 2026-08-23. Switching to the Free plan is the documented way to stop paid billing.

Not available
What happens to my account data?

Canceling the paid plan is separate from deleting the account. Account deletion lives under Settings > Login & Security > Delete account. An organization owner must delete the organization first in Settings > Organizations. Missive does not publish a numbered retention window for canceled paid plans on the billing pages fetched 2026-08-23. Export tools are available before closing a workspace.

Frequently asked questions

Answers checked with the steps above
How do I cancel Missive?

The organization owner opens the desktop app, goes to Settings, then Billing, and clicks Cancel subscription. Billing is not available in the mobile apps.

When does Missive billing stop after I cancel?

The account stays active until the end of the current billing period. A yearly plan is a 12-month commitment; switching to Free before the renewal date is how Missive documents stopping the next yearly charge.

Does Missive refund unused time?

Contact Missive within 30 days of the first paid payment for a full refund if you are unsatisfied. Yearly plans are not refunded mid-cycle, and removing a user on an annual plan does not refund remaining months.

Can I cancel a yearly Missive plan mid-cycle?

No. The Billing FAQ says yearly plans are a 12-month commitment with no mid-cycle cancellations or refunds. Switch to Free before the renewal date if you do not want the plan to renew.

Is deleting my Missive account the same as canceling?

No. Cancel subscription (or switch to Free) stops paid billing. Account deletion is a separate Login & Security step. An organization owner must delete the organization first.
