How do I cancel Chargebee?
Cancel Chargebee from your user profile, then Manage Account, then Cancel Subscription as the account owner. It takes about 3 minutes; on a Billing Starter plan the cancel takes effect at the end of the next billing term. Subscription fees are non-refundable.

This guide covers every place the subscription can live - the website and team plans - plus what happens to refunds, pausing and your data afterwards.
Step-by-step instructions
This cancels your Chargebee account. It does not cancel your customers' subscriptions inside Chargebee.
Only the account owner can submit a cancellation request. If the site is already activated, the cancellation option appears only on the Live site.
Open your user profile (bottom left) and choose Manage Account. On the next page click Manage account.
Select the Chargebee subscription and choose Cancel Subscription. Follow the prompts shown there.
The last readable Terms of Service say a Billing Starter Plan is month-to-month. Termination is effective upon expiration of the subsequent billing term. Example: a request in month 3 ends the plan at the end of month 4.
Only the account owner can submit the request, and on an activated site the control is only on the Live site.
The current Terms of Service page (15 February 2026) did not expose a readable body. Refund, retention and Starter timing follow the official prior version still published by Chargebee.
Chargebee's cancel article says if you have an Account Manager you can contact them for help. Enterprise Plus and Pricing Agreements are sales-led.
The last readable Terms of Service say that unless a Pricing Agreement or Plan says otherwise, a Subscription lasts 12 months and auto-renews. To discontinue renewal, either party must notify the other in writing 90 days before the Term expires. That 90-day rule does not apply to the month-to-month Billing Starter Plan.
After termination or expiration Chargebee retains that Account's Service Data for 120 days. After that window Chargebee may destroy Service Data unless law or a legal claim requires keeping it.

Refunds, downgrades, pausing and your data
Four questions people ask before they cancelThe last readable Terms of Service state Subscription Fees are non-refundable unless those Terms or a Pricing Agreement say otherwise. A Billing Starter cancellation does not entitle you to a refund of subscription, platform, usage or other fees. A pro-rata unused-fee refund is described only when you terminate for Chargebee's uncured material breach.
The last readable Terms of Service say you may upgrade between Plans during the Term, but not downgrade. After a Subscription ends, access rights cease. Reactivating a previously canceled Chargebee subscription requires contacting Chargebee Support.
No Chargebee-account pause is documented on the public cancel article or the last readable Terms of Service. Chargebee's product can pause your customers' subscriptions; that is not a pause of your Chargebee plan.
Following termination or expiration, Chargebee retains that Account's Service Data for 120 days. After the Data Retention Period Chargebee no longer has to maintain or provide access and may destroy Service Data, except as required by law or to protect its rights. Export before you cancel.
