## Cancel in a web browser

> Destroy instances and pay the balance before using the cancellation page.

1. **Destroy active services** Before closing, destroy all active services. Navigate to Products, click Compute, open the instance, click Destroy Server, check the confirmation prompt, and click Destroy Server.
2. **Pay any outstanding balance** Vultr requires the outstanding balance to be paid in full before account closure.
3. **Open the account cancellation page** Log in and visit the account cancellation page in the Vultr Console.
4. **Close the account** Click Continue Closing Account, provide a reason, then click Close Account. The account and associated data are then permanently deleted.

> **Warning:** Account deletion is irreversible and permanently deletes associated data. Stopping a server does not stop billing.

## Cancel a team plan

1. **Request closure through Support if needed** In the Vultr Console, open Support, Open Ticket, choose category Account Cancellation, add a subject and reason, and click Open Ticket. Support verifies the request and processes closure.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Vultr does not offer refunds for services. All payments are final, and credits are non-refundable.
- **Pausing:** Stopping an instance does not halt billing. CPU, RAM, SSD, and IP addresses stay reserved and billable. Destroy the instance to stop those charges.
- **Downgrading:** Destroying an instance permanently erases its file system and IP information unless a snapshot or backup exists. Account closure is irreversible.
- **Account data:** Account deletion is irreversible and results in permanent data loss. Once self-service closure completes, the account and all associated data are permanently deleted.
