# How to cancel Upstash Redis

Cancel Upstash by exporting your data, deleting every paid resource and then using Account > Settings > Delete Account if you also want the account removed. It takes about 5 minutes. Payments are non-refundable, and Upstash warns that deleted account data cannot be recovered.

## Cancel in a web browser

1. **Delete every billable resource** Sign in to Upstash Console and delete all databases, clusters and other paid resources you no longer want. Export important data first because deletion is not recoverable.
2. **Open Account, then Settings** Go to the Account area and open Settings. Upstash requires all resources to be deleted before the account can be removed.
3. **Choose Delete Account** Select Delete Account and complete the confirmation. Upstash says this permanently removes account data and payment information.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Monthly and yearly payments are billed in advance and are non-refundable, including partial periods, downgrades and unused time while an account remains open.
- **Pausing:** No subscription pause is documented. Pay-as-you-go users can set a budget, but that is a spending control rather than a pause.
- **Downgrading:** A paid database type cannot be reverted to Free. Delete paid resources to stop their charges. A new Free database can be created separately within current Free limits.
- **Account data:** The current account FAQ says account deletion permanently removes account data and payment information and cannot be recovered. The terms also mention a six-month cancellation period but reserve the right to delete content immediately, so export everything and do not rely on recovery.
