# How to cancel Teachable

The Primary Owner can cancel Teachable from the school admin under Settings > Billing > Manage Plan > Cancel Plan. It takes about two minutes and takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle. New paid plans and upgrades have a 30-day written refund window.

## Cancel in a web browser

1. **Open Billing** As the school's Primary Owner, open the school admin and go to Settings > Billing.
2. **Open Manage Plan** At the top-right of the Billing page, select Manage Plan, then Cancel Plan.
3. **Review the impact** Follow the prompts and review the effect on the school, students and active subscriptions.
4. **Confirm cancellation** Complete the confirmation. Paid features remain active until the end of the current billing cycle.

## Cancel a team plan

1. **Primary Owner only** Only the Primary Owner can cancel the school plan.
2. **Manage student subscriptions** School-plan cancellation does not immediately stop active student subscriptions. Cancel them manually from Sales if they should not continue for up to 30 days after the plan ends.

> **Warning:** Student billing is separate and may continue for up to 30 days unless you cancel those subscriptions from Sales.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Teachable offers a 30-day refund window after signing up for a new paid school plan or upgrading to a higher tier, for monthly and annual subscriptions. Cancel the school plan first, then request the refund in writing through support within the window.
- **Pausing:** Teachable does not document a billing pause for school plans. Taking a school offline is not a substitute for cancellation and does not by itself stop plan billing.
- **Downgrading:** You can select a lower tier under Settings > Plan. After cancellation, the school goes offline because Teachable no longer offers a free plan; upgrading to a paid plan restores paid features.
- **Account data:** After cancellation, school content and settings remain intact but inaccessible while the school is offline; Teachable does not guarantee indefinite accessibility. Permanent account deletion is immediate and irreversible and requires finishing the paid plan, deleting schools, then contacting support from the verified owner email.
