# How to cancel Supabase

Cancel Supabase from your organization's billing page: click Change subscription plan in the Subscription Plan section and select the Free plan. It takes about a minute and the downgrade takes effect immediately, not at the end of the cycle. Supabase does not provide refunds; unused prepaid time comes back as non-expiring organization credits.

Open-source Postgres development platform with hosted databases, auth, storage, realtime and edge functions.

## Cancel in a web browser

> Subscribed through AWS Marketplace instead? Those subscriptions are managed in the AWS console - downgrade by disabling auto-renewal there, effective at the end of the cycle.

1. **Open your organization's billing page** Sign in and go to supabase.com/dashboard/org/_/billing. Supabase bills per organization, so repeat this for every organization with a paid plan.
2. **Go to the Subscription Plan section** It sits on the organization's billing page.
3. **Click Change subscription plan** This opens the plan options.
4. **Select the Free plan** Cancellation is fully self-serve and the downgrade takes effect immediately.
5. **Expect credits, plus one possible final charge** Unused prepaid time is returned as non-expiring organization credits. Usage already incurred this cycle (billed in arrears) can still appear on a final invoice.

> **Warning:** The downgrade is immediate, not end-of-cycle. Unused time comes back as credits, never as a refund.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Supabase does not provide refunds; the Terms of Service state fees are non-refundable. On downgrade, unused subscription time is returned as non-expiring organization credits (pre-tax) that only offset future invoices. If you upgraded the wrong organization by mistake, support can transfer the amount as credits to another organization.
- **Pausing:** Paid projects cannot be paused - Supabase states Pro projects cannot be paused and suggests transferring a project under 500 MB to a Free organization to pause it there. On Free, projects with low activity over 7 days pause automatically, and paused projects are not charged.
- **Downgrading:** Downgrading to Free is per organization and takes effect immediately, with unused time credited back. The Free plan allows two active projects (paused projects do not count) with 500 MB database, 50,000 monthly active users, 5 GB egress and 1 GB storage. Exceeding free limits can pause projects; the Billing FAQ describes grace periods and Fair Use restrictions.
- **Account data:** A Free project paused for inactivity can be restored for 1 year; after that it cannot be restored on the platform, but the final database backup and Storage objects stay downloadable before deletion. Deleting a project is immediate and permanent - data, backups, PITR snapshots, Storage files and Edge Functions are unrecoverable. The Terms publish no retention timeline after account termination.

## FAQ

**Does cancelling take effect at the end of my billing cycle?**

No. Downgrading to Free takes effect immediately, and prepaid time for the rest of the cycle is credited back as non-expiring credits.

**Why was I charged after downgrading to Free?**

Plan fees are charged upfront, but usage (including compute) is billed in arrears. A charge after downgrading covers usage from the previous cycle.

**Can I get a refund instead of credits?**

No. Supabase does not provide refunds; downgrade credits only apply to future invoices.

**Do paused projects cost anything?**

No. Paused projects are not charged and do not count toward the Free plan's two active project limit.

**I subscribed through AWS Marketplace - how do I cancel?**

Through AWS, not the Supabase dashboard: disable auto-renewal on the marketplace subscription, effective at the end of the billing cycle.

**What happens if I just stop paying?**

When an invoice becomes overdue, Supabase pauses your projects and downgrades the organization to the Free plan.
