# How to cancel Shortwave

Cancel Shortwave from Settings, Members & Billing: select the team, click Manage plan, then Cancel plan and confirm. It takes about 2 minutes; paid features continue through the billing period, then the team moves to the free plan. Full refunds are available within 14 days of payment via billing@shortwave.com; after that, none.

## Cancel in a web browser

> Cancel on the web from Members & Billing. iOS and Android can delete the account under Support; they are not the documented billing portal.

1. **Open Settings, Members & Billing** Sign in on the web and go to Settings, then Members & Billing.
2. **Select the team you pay for** Choose the team from the dropdown.
3. **Click Manage plan** It sits in the billing information section and opens Stripe.
4. **Click Cancel plan and confirm** You do not need to email support to cancel. Replying to a Stripe payment email will not cancel the subscription. After downgrading, paid features remain until the billing period ends.

## Cancel a team plan

1. **Cancel as the person paying for the team** Select the team you are paying for, then Manage plan and Cancel plan. If you are locked out, email billing@shortwave.com so Shortwave can cancel after verifying identity.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Shortwave's help center offers a full refund within 14 days of payment via billing@shortwave.com. After 14 days, refunds are not available, but access continues through the end of the billing period. Removing a seat gives a prorated credit on the next cycle. The terms also say payments are final and non-refundable unless Shortwave determines otherwise.
- **Pausing:** No subscription pause option is documented. Cancel and stay on the free plan through and after the paid period.
- **Downgrading:** Cancel plan moves the team to the free plan at the end of the billing period. Paid features such as full-history search and AI-assisted search drop then. You can also Update plan to a different paid plan. Removing a seat credits the next cycle.
- **Account data:** Account deletion is separate from cancelling the plan. Delete account is under Settings, Support (or Support on iOS and Android). Deletion does not affect messages stored in Gmail. Signing up again later uses Google sign-in.
