# How to cancel ReadMe

Cancel ReadMe as Project Owner from General Settings, Project Settings: click Cancel Subscription to stop paying and revert to a trial. Delete Project is a separate TOS cancel path that immediately deletes content. A monthly plan cancelled mid-month gets a prorated refund for remaining days.

## Cancel in a web browser

> Manage Plan is Admin Settings, Manage Plan. The Billing Portal is for payment method and invoices, Project Owner only.

1. **Sign in as Project Owner** Only the Project Owner can cancel billing. Open General Settings, then Project Settings, and scroll to the bottom.
2. **Click Cancel Subscription to stop paying** ReadMe help: Cancel Subscription stops paying and reverts the project to a trial. This is not the same as deleting the project.
3. **Treat Delete Project as a separate, destructive cancel** The terms say you cancel by clicking the red Delete Project button in Project Settings. Email or phone is not cancellation. Delete Project immediately deletes content, which cannot be recovered, and you will not be charged again.

## Cancel a team plan

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** If a project plan is cancelled part-way through a month on a monthly billing cycle, you receive a prorated refund for remaining days. ReadMe says it will do its best to process refunds fairly, based on usage.
- **Pausing:** No subscription pause option is documented. Cancel Subscription reverts the project to a trial.
