# How to cancel Postmark

Close Postmark from Account, Plans & Add-ons by choosing Close account and confirming with your password. It takes about 2 minutes and immediately removes the account and its records after any overages are charged. First purchases can qualify for a refund within 30 days; later purchases cannot.

## Cancel in a web browser

1. **Open Plans & Add-ons** Sign in as the Account Owner, select Account, then select Plans & Add-ons from the account Overview.
2. **Choose Close account** Scroll to the bottom of Plans & Add-ons and choose Close account.
3. **Confirm with your password** Enter your password and click Close account. The closure is immediate after any incurred overage charge succeeds.

> **Warning:** Close account immediately removes messages, email history, verified sender signatures, servers, and billing information. Downgrade to the free Developer plan instead if you want to preserve the account.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** For plan-based billing, Postmark offers a refund for the first purchase within 30 days if the customer is not satisfied. Later purchases are not eligible for refunds.
- **Pausing:** An Account Owner or Account Admin can stop monthly billing without closing the account by changing to the free 100-emails-per-month Developer plan from Plans & Add-ons.
- **Downgrading:** A downgrade to a lower paid or free plan is scheduled for the end of the billing cycle. Postmark charges any overages at the end of the cycle. The free Developer tier preserves account configuration and allows 100 emails per month.
- **Account data:** Closing the Postmark account immediately removes all messages and records, including email history, verified sender signatures, servers, and billing information. The action is available only to the Account Owner.
