# How to cancel Pinecone

Cancel Pinecone from Settings, Billing, Plans in the console: as an organization owner or billing admin, bring usage under Starter limits, then click Downgrade in the Starter section. Billing ends immediately and you receive a final invoice for charges already accrued that month. Pinecone does not refund unused prepaid amounts except after its own uncured material breach.

## Cancel in a web browser

> Start the downgrade in the Pinecone console so quotas are checked. Starting only in a cloud marketplace can deactivate the account if you are over Starter limits.

1. **Sign in as an organization owner or billing admin** Only organization owners and billing admins can change the billing plan.
2. **Bring usage under Starter quotas** Before downgrading to Starter you must meet Starter limits, including no more than 5 serverless indexes in AWS us-east-1, 1 project, 2 GB of data, 100 namespaces per index, 3 assistants, 1 GB of assistant storage and 2 users. Collections and backups are deleted during the downgrade.
3. **Open Settings, Billing, Plans** In the Pinecone console, go to Settings > Billing > Plans.
4. **Click Downgrade in the Starter section** If you pay by card, click Downgrade in the Starter plan section. Billing ends immediately and you receive a final invoice for charges accrued in the current month. Start this in the Pinecone console, not only in a cloud marketplace.

> **Warning:** Downgrading to Starter deletes collections and backups. Organization deletion cannot be undone.

## Cancel a team plan

1. **Finish marketplace cancellation if needed** After Downgrade and Confirm downgrade in the Pinecone console, continue to the AWS, Google Cloud or Microsoft marketplace and cancel the Pinecone subscription or order there.
2. **Switch Standard to Builder if you want a lower paid tier** On card-billed Standard, click Switch to Builder after bringing the organization under Builder quotas. Builder is $20 per month flat and is not supported on marketplace billing.
3. **Delete the organization after the Starter downgrade** Delete indexes and projects, downgrade to Starter, then go to Settings > Manage, click Delete this organization, type the organization name and confirm. Remove yourself from every organization to delete the user account.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** When you downgrade, billing ends immediately and Pinecone still sends a final invoice for charges accrued in the current month. The Master Subscription Agreement says unused prepaid amounts are not refunded except after Pinecone's uncured material breach, or after Pinecone terminates for an intellectual-property injunction.
- **Pausing:** No pause option is documented. The documented paths are downgrading to Starter, switching Standard to Builder, or terminating the agreement.
- **Downgrading:** Downgrade to the free Starter plan from Settings > Billing > Plans after meeting Starter quotas. Card-billed Standard organizations can switch to Builder ($20 per month flat) instead. Billing ends immediately on a Starter downgrade, with a final invoice for the current month.
- **Account data:** Deleting an organization cannot be undone and requires deleting indexes and projects and downgrading to Starter first. Deleting the user account requires leaving or deleting every organization. After agreement termination, an end user may access Services for up to 30 days on written request only to retrieve Customer Data. Pinecone then deletes Customer Data unless law requires otherwise.
