# How to cancel Personio

A Personio Contract Owner cancels by opening Support in Personio, asking Support AI to connect them with the team, and sending a written non-renewal request. That takes about 10 minutes plus Support processing. Personio requires notice of termination in writing, including email, and the public terms do not document a refund of prepaid time.

## Cancel in a web browser

1. **Confirm you are a Contract Owner** Only Contract Owners can contact Support for subscription or contract questions. Administrators without that role cannot open those tickets.
2. **Open Support in Personio** Click Support in the navigation bar. Ask Support AI to connect you with the Personio team.
3. **Send a written non-renewal request** Choose Contact us, then Send us a message. Personio's current General Terms say notice of termination must be given in writing, including email. Subscription and contract questions go to the Account Manager.
4. **Keep the written confirmation** Save the ticket and any confirmation of the effective end date. The public help pages do not document a self-serve Cancel button for the whole subscription.

## Cancel a team plan

2. **Ask Support about yearly invoice billing** Contract Owners can contact Support to switch to yearly billing by invoice. Yearly invoice is listed as a payment method in Subscription and Billing.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Personio's current public General Terms require written notice of termination, including email. The publicly readable help pages do not document a standard refund of unused prepaid time. Ask Support what applies to the specific contract.
- **Pausing:** No subscription pause option is documented on the public help pages or the current General Terms.
- **Downgrading:** Monthly customers with fewer than 50 seats and Administrator or Subscription Management edit rights can downgrade the plan, remove apps, or reduce seats from Settings, Account & support, Subscription & billing, Schedule changes. - **Account data:** Account Owners and Contract Owners with the required company rights can export company data from Settings, Account & support, Company default, Data export. Personio emails when the export is ready and keeps the file available for six days. Trial accounts are deleted 30 days after the trial ends.
