# How to cancel Netflix

Cancel Netflix from the Manage your membership page on netflix.com: select Cancel, then Finish Cancellation. It takes about a minute, and access normally stays active through the current billing period. Netflix says payments are non-refundable, so the unused part of the period is not refunded or credited.

## Cancel in a web browser

> Use the Netflix account page when Netflix bills the membership directly.

1. **Open Manage your membership** Open Netflix's Manage your membership page and sign in to the account that pays for the subscription.
2. **Select Cancel** Choose Cancel under the membership controls. Signing out or deleting the Netflix app does not cancel billing.
3. **Finish the cancellation** Select Finish Cancellation. Netflix sends a confirmation email and normally keeps access active through the current billing period.

> **Warning:** If a provider bills the membership, follow the provider shown in the Membership section. Apple billing exists only for some legacy accounts.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Netflix says payments are non-refundable and it does not provide refunds or credits for partial subscription periods or unused content, to the extent permitted by law.
- **Pausing:** Eligible members can choose Pause for 1 Month from the cancellation page. The pause starts on the next billing date, can be extended up to three months total and is unavailable for some plans and payment methods.
- **Downgrading:** A downgrade is selected from Change Plan and starts on the next billing date. Current higher-tier features stay available until then.
- **Account data:** Cancellation does not immediately delete the account. Netflix automatically deletes a canceled account after 24 months unless earlier deletion is requested. Earlier permanent deletion can be scheduled from the Security section of the Account page.
