## Cancel in a web browser

> Settings > Billing is in the desktop app. Deleting the account is a separate Login & Security step and is not the documented way to stop a paid plan.

1. **Open Missive on a desktop computer as the organization owner** Billing is documented as owner-only and desktop-only. Teammates and the mobile apps cannot change the subscription.
2. **Open Settings, then Billing** Click your avatar in the bottom-left of the sidebar, then Settings (or press Cmd+,), then Billing.
3. **Click Cancel subscription** The Billing FAQ says to click Cancel subscription. The account stays active until the end of the current billing period.
4. **On a yearly plan, switch to Free before renewal to stop the next charge** Yearly plans are a 12-month commitment with no mid-cycle cancellation or refund. Switching to Free before the renewal date is how Missive documents stopping auto-renewal.

> **Warning:** A yearly plan is a 12-month commitment. Missive does not cancel or refund yearly subscriptions mid-cycle.

## Cancel a team plan

> Teammates cannot change billing. An owner who wants to delete the organization must do that before deleting their own account.

1. **Confirm you are the organization owner** Only the owner can manage billing and subscriptions. Admins cannot.
2. **On the desktop app, open Settings, then Billing** Click Cancel subscription, or switch to the Free plan if you want to stop paying while keeping Missive access.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Missive's billing docs offer a full refund, no questions asked, if you subscribe to a paid plan and are not satisfied and contact them within 30 days. The Billing FAQ restates that as a refund of the first payment within 30 days. Yearly subscriptions are a 12-month commitment and Missive does not offer refunds on them. Removing a user from an annual plan does not refund remaining months.
- **Pausing:** No pause option is documented on the pricing, billing, or billing FAQ pages fetched 2026-08-23. Switching to the Free plan is the documented way to stop paid billing.
- **Downgrading:** The owner can change plans from Settings > Billing, including switching to Free. On a yearly plan, switching to Free before the renewal date stops the next yearly charge; the current yearly period still runs to its end with no mid-cycle refund. Yearly tier downgrades take effect at the end of the current yearly billing cycle. Upgrades take effect immediately with a prorated charge.
- **Account data:** Canceling the paid plan is separate from deleting the account. Account deletion lives under Settings > Login & Security > Delete account. An organization owner must delete the organization first in Settings > Organizations. Missive does not publish a numbered retention window for canceled paid plans on the billing pages fetched 2026-08-23. Export tools are available before closing a workspace.

## At a glance

- Cancellation fee: None documented
- Refund window: 30 days on the first paid payment; no yearly mid-cycle refund
- Effective: End of the current billing period
- Free plan after: Free plan available; switch to Free to stop paying
