# How to cancel Instacart+

## Cancel in a web browser

1. **Open your Instacart+ membership** On the website, open the three-line menu. In the Instacart app, open Account. Select Your Instacart+ membership.
2. **Choose Cancel membership** Under Manage membership, select Cancel membership.
3. **Continue and confirm** Select Continue to cancel, then Confirm cancellation and Done. Check for Instacart's confirmation email.

> **Warning:** Do not delete the account first. Instacart instructs customers to cancel Instacart+ before account deletion.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Monthly membership fees are nonrefundable. An annual membership can be refunded within the first five calendar days of a paid term or renewal only if no Instacart+ benefits were used for an order. Otherwise it is nonrefundable, and benefits continue through the paid term.
- **Pausing:** No general user-controlled pause for a paid Instacart+ membership is documented in Instacart's current membership help or terms.
- **Downgrading:** Cancelling Instacart+ leaves the free Instacart account available after the paid membership term ends. The account can still place orders without the membership benefits.
- **Account data:** Cancelling Instacart+ does not delete the Instacart account. Account deletion is a separate permanent request, and Instacart requires cancelling Instacart+ first. Instacart may retain information needed for legal, accounting, reporting and rights-enforcement purposes.
