# How to cancel GitGuardian

Cancel a paid GitGuardian subscription by giving written notice of non-renewal at least 60 days before the term ends, via support@gitguardian.com. It takes a short support exchange, and the Order Form runs to its end date. The MSA does not grant a refund for ordinary non-renewal.

Secrets security platform for internal and public monitoring, NHI governance and developer endpoint protection, sold on developer-seat Order Forms.

## Cancel in a web browser

> Paid plans are Order Forms. There is no documented self-serve cancel button.

1. **Send written notice of non-renewal** Each Order Form renews automatically unless either party gives written notice of non-renewal at least 60 days before the end of the then-current term. Email support@gitguardian.com, which GitGuardian publishes as the product support address.
2. **State the workspace and the term end date** Identify the workspace, plan, account email and the date you want the Order Form to end. Ask for written confirmation that the term will not renew.
3. **Optionally delete the workspace owner account after the term** A user can delete their account from Settings > Personal > Account by clicking Delete my account. If that user is the Owner, the workspace is deleted automatically. Account deletion is separate from ending the Order Form.

## Cancel a team plan

> The Client on the Order Form must give the 60-day written notice.

1. **The Owner or contracting Client must give notice** The MSA binds the Client named on the Order Form. Workspace Owners and Managers can see Plan & usage. Only an Owner's account deletion also deletes the workspace.
2. **Give notice at least 60 days before renewal** Written notice of non-renewal must arrive at least 60 days before the then-current term ends, unless the Order Form says otherwise.

> **Warning:** Deleting the Owner account also deletes the workspace.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** The MSA requires the Client to pay Subscription Fees for the Term. It does not grant a refund for ordinary customer non-renewal. A pro-rated refund of unused prepaid amounts is documented only if the Client terminates after GitGuardian misses the Availability Standard in any three months of a consecutive 12-month period.
- **Pausing:** No pause option is documented. The MSA and Plan & usage docs describe Order Form terms, auto-renewal and account deletion, not a pause.
- **Downgrading:** Public docs do not describe a self-serve downgrade from Business or Enterprise to Free. After an expired unused trial, private collaborative repositories are no longer monitored on Free once you exceed 25 contributing developers. Deleting the Owner account deletes the workspace.
- **Account data:** If you are the Owner and delete your account, the workspace is deleted automatically. Members of that workspace lose membership; a user who belonged only to that workspace also has their user account deleted. On Agreement termination the Services end and the Client must stop using them.

## At a glance

- Cancellation fee: None documented
- Refund window: None for ordinary non-renewal
- Effective: End of Order Form term
- Free plan after: Starter exists; paid downgrade not documented

## FAQ

**Is there a Cancel button for a paid GitGuardian plan?**

No public cancel button is documented. Paid terms auto-renew until you give written notice of non-renewal at least 60 days before the term ends.

**Where do I send the notice?**

The MSA requires written notice to the other party. GitGuardian publishes support@gitguardian.com as the product support address.

**Do I get a refund if I stop mid-term?**

Not for ordinary non-renewal. You pay the Order Form Term. A pro-rated unused prepaid refund is documented only for certain Availability Standard failures.

**What if I only use the free Starter plan?**

There is nothing to bill. You can delete your account from Settings > Personal > Account. If you are the Owner, that also deletes the workspace.

**Who counts as a developer seat?**

For Internal Secrets Monitoring, a contributing developer is a commit author email who made at least one commit to a private collaborative repository in the last 90 days.
