# How to cancel Elastic Cloud

Stop Elastic Cloud charges from the Elastic Cloud Console by deleting every hosted deployment (Actions, then Delete deployment) and every Serverless project (Actions, then Delete project). It takes a few minutes, and billing for that resource stops immediately, rounded to the nearest hour. Monthly subscriptions have no cancellation fee; charges are non-refundable, and usage before deletion still appears on the next bill.

Hosted Elastic Cloud (Elasticsearch Service) for search, observability and security on AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. This guide covers hosted Elastic Cloud, not self-managed licenses.

## Cancel in a web browser

> This guide is for hosted Elastic Cloud and Serverless projects, not a self-managed Elastic Stack license.

1. **Sign in to the Elastic Cloud Console** Open cloud.elastic.co. Organization owners manage billing from the Billing section.
2. **Delete every hosted deployment** On the deployment overview page, select Actions, then Delete deployment, and confirm. Billing stops immediately, rounded to the nearest hour.
3. **Delete every Serverless project** Open Serverless Projects, select Actions, then Delete project, and confirm. Unlink the project from any cross-project search origin first.
4. **Expect the final monthly bill** Monthly subscriptions have no cancellation fee. Usage that month still appears on the month-end invoice. The account can stay open with no charges.

> **Warning:** Deleting a deployment erases all data on disk, including snapshots. Usage before deletion still appears on the next bill.

## Cancel a team plan

> Marketplace and prepaid customers still stop hosted charges by deleting deployments in the Elastic Cloud Console.

1. **Change subscription level from Billing** From the navigation menu select Billing, then Update subscription, choose a level and save. Upgrades are immediate. A downgrade is immediate unless you self-serve upgraded in the past 30 days. Annual changes go through a sales representative.
2. **Marketplace and prepaid contracts** On AWS Marketplace, delete your deployments to unsubscribe. Cancelling the GCP Marketplace order puts deployments into maintenance mode and schedules termination in five days. An expired prepaid contract becomes a monthly invoiced account and does not delete deployments.
3. **Ask support to remove the account** Deleting deployments does not close the organization. Use the Elastic Cloud Support form to request account removal.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Elastic states charges are non-refundable. Deleting a deployment stops charges for that deployment immediately. Special refund requests go through the Elastic Cloud Support form as a Billing issue, or ar@elastic.co.
- **Pausing:** No pause option is documented. Stopping request routing on a hosted deployment does not change billing. Unused active deployments still incur costs.
- **Downgrading:** Change level from Billing, then Update subscription. A move to a lower level is immediate if you have not self-serve upgraded in the past 30 days; otherwise it waits 30 days and you keep paying the current rate. Remove higher-tier features first. After every deployment and project is deleted, the account stays open with no charges.
- **Account data:** Deleting a hosted deployment erases data on disk, including snapshots. Snapshots are kept only a very limited time after deletion and restore is not guaranteed. Deleting a Serverless project also destroys its data. Account removal is a separate support request.

## At a glance

- Cancellation fee: None on monthly
- Refund window: None
- Effective: Immediate on delete (hourly)
- Free plan after: Idle account, no hosted free tier

## FAQ

**How do I stop Elastic Cloud charges?**

Delete every hosted deployment and Serverless project. Elastic still bills unused running resources. The account can stay open with no charges.

**When does billing stop after I delete a deployment?**

Immediately, rounded up to the nearest hour. Usage before deletion still appears on the next monthly bill.

**Is there a cancellation fee?**

Not for monthly subscriptions. Elastic documents no cancellation or termination fees on monthly plans.

**Can I get a refund?**

Charges are non-refundable. Elastic will consider special cases if you open a Billing issue support case.

**Does deleting a deployment delete my data?**

Yes. Hosted deletion erases data on disk, including snapshots. Serverless project deletion also destroys its data.

**How do I delete the Elastic Cloud account itself?**

Contact Elastic Cloud support. Deleting deployments does not remove the organization.
