# How to cancel dbt Cloud

Cancel dbt Cloud from Account Settings: an account owner or admin can cancel the account in settings. Month-to-month cancellations take effect on the next monthly anniversary. Fees already paid are non-refundable, and seats removed mid-month are not refunded.

## Cancel in a web browser

1. **Sign in as the account owner or an admin** Use login.dbt.com. Terms say an Authorized User with administrative privileges can cancel the Account in settings. Only the account owner can change the card.
2. **Open Account settings, then Billing** Click the account name in the left menu and select Account settings. Open Billing under Settings.
3. **Cancel the account in settings** Pricing says you can cancel your account at any time on the Account Settings page. Exact button labels are not published; follow the prompts shown there.
4. **Note the effective date** For month-to-month subscriptions, termination takes effect on the next monthly anniversary date. Trial cancellations take effect immediately.

## Cancel a team plan

> Starter is monthly credit card. Enterprise is annual invoice and is not cancelled in the billing UI.

1. **Enterprise billing is not in the UI** Enterprise customers pay annually by invoice. Billing changes go through the Solutions Architect or account team.
2. **Lower Starter seats without a refund** After deleting users, open Account Settings > Billing, set the developer seat count, fill every payment and billing-address field, and click Update Payment Information. Seats removed mid-month appear on the next invoice and are not refunded.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Terms state that except as otherwise specified, all fees already paid are non-refundable. Starter seats removed during the month are not eligible for refunds. A prepaid refund is documented only if the client terminates for dbt Labs' uncured material breach.
- **Pausing:** No subscription pause is documented. To stop usage charges without deleting jobs, open each job's Job Settings > Triggers, disable Run on Schedule, set Continuous Integration Run on Pull Requests to No, and stop API-triggered runs.
- **Downgrading:** Account Owners can upgrade or downgrade at any time from Account settings > Billing. Starter seats removed mid-month are not refunded. After a Developer-plan overage, later model runs are cancelled until the monthly refresh or an upgrade.
- **Account data:** Terms say that except as required by law, dbt Labs has no obligation to maintain Client Data more than 90 days after expiration or termination. dbt stores account information, job logs and assets such as run_results.json and manifest.json, not raw warehouse data unless the project's code writes it to logs.
