# How to cancel Cursor

Cancel Cursor from the billing dashboard at cursor.com/dashboard/billing: click Manage Subscription, then Cancel Subscription and confirm. It takes about a minute, and paid features stay until the end of the current billing period. Refunds cover only the most recent payment, and only if the charge is under 14 days old and the subscription was unused that period.

## Cancel in a web browser

> Use this if you subscribed at cursor.com and your receipts come from Cursor (via Stripe).

1. **Open the billing dashboard** Sign in and go to cursor.com/dashboard/billing.
2. **Click Manage Subscription** This opens Cursor's Stripe billing portal, the same place invoices and payment methods live.
3. **Choose Cancel Subscription and confirm** You keep paid features until the end of the current billing period and are not charged again.

## Cancel on iPhone / iPad

> Use this if you subscribed inside the iOS app - Apple bills those and only Apple can stop them.

1. **Cancel through Apple, not Cursor** Cursor's docs state that iOS in-app subscriptions are managed by Apple, so Cursor cannot cancel an in-app plan for you.
2. **Open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions** This lists everything billed through your Apple account.
3. **Tap Cursor, then Cancel Subscription** If there is no Cancel button, or an expiration date shows in red text, the subscription is already cancelled.

> **Warning:** Cancelling on cursor.com does not stop an Apple in-app subscription, and Cursor cannot refund one - Apple is the merchant of record.

## Cancel a team plan

> Cursor documents four reasons the cancel button can be unavailable: a lapsed plan, unpaid invoices, not being a team admin, or an iOS subscription.

1. **Have a team admin sign in** Only team administrators can access billing controls; regular members cannot cancel the plan.
2. **Cancel from the billing dashboard** The admin goes to cursor.com/dashboard/billing, clicks Manage Subscription, then Cancel Subscription.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Refunds cover only the most recent payment, and only if the charge is under 14 days old and the subscription was unused that billing period. Request one from support while signed in; approved refunds return to the original payment method within 5–10 business days. Cancelling by itself never refunds a processed charge, on-demand usage is non-refundable once consumed, and Apple in-app purchases can only be refunded by Apple.
- **Pausing:** No pause option is documented. Cursor's billing docs describe cancelling and scheduled downgrades only.
- **Downgrading:** Instead of cancelling you can schedule a downgrade to a cheaper plan; it takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle. After cancellation the account reverts to the free Hobby plan, which keeps Agent, Chat and Tab completions with limited usage on the Auto model.
- **Account data:** Cancelling does not delete your account or any local files. Deleting the account (dashboard → Advanced Account Settings → Delete Account) is permanent: Cursor removes your profile, conversation logs, preferences and indexed codebases within 30 days. Code on your machine is untouched either way.

## FAQ

**Do I keep access after cancelling Cursor?**

Yes. You keep your paid plan's features until the end of the current billing period, and you are not charged again.

**What happens to my account when the paid period ends?**

It reverts to the free Hobby plan. Cancellation does not delete your account or any local project files.

**Can I get money back for the current period?**

Only within 14 days of the charge and only if you have not used the subscription that billing period. Cancelling by itself never refunds a charge that has already been processed.

**Why is the cancel button unavailable?**

Cursor documents four causes: the plan already lapsed, there are unpaid invoices, you are not a team admin, or you subscribed via iOS and Apple manages the subscription.

**Who can cancel a Teams plan?**

Only team administrators can access billing controls. Regular members cannot cancel the plan.

**Can I come back later?**

Yes. Sign in to the dashboard and pick a plan whenever you want; your account and settings are preserved.
