# How to cancel Convex

A Team Admin can cancel Convex from Team Settings > Billing using the subscription plan control. It should take about two minutes, but Convex does not publish the effective date or refund rule. Do not delete the team unless you also intend to delete every project and its data.

## Cancel in a web browser

1. **Open the Convex team** Sign in to the Convex dashboard and select the team whose subscription you want to change. Only a Team Admin can manage billing.
2. **Open Team Settings, then Billing** Go to Team Settings and open Billing. Convex documents this page for managing an existing subscription.
3. **Cancel or change the plan** Use the subscription plan control to cancel or change the plan and complete the prompts. Convex explicitly documents cancellation as an allowed Team Admin billing action, but does not publish the final button labels.

## Cancel a team plan

1. **Avoid team deletion for a normal cancellation** Deleting a team automatically cancels the subscription, but first requires deleting all projects and removing other members. Use Billing when you only intend to stop the paid plan.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Convex does not publish a refund rule for paid subscriptions on the official pricing, Billing, team or role-permission pages reviewed. Check the checkout terms or ask Convex before cancelling if a refund matters.
- **Pausing:** Convex can pause a deployment, but that is not a subscription pause. No paid-plan pause option is documented.
- **Downgrading:** Billing supports changing a subscription plan and Convex offers Free and Starter tiers. Convex does not state whether cancellation automatically selects one of those tiers, when lower limits apply or how over-limit usage is handled.
- **Account data:** Normal subscription cancellation is not documented as deleting projects. Deleting the team is different: it requires deleting every project first and automatically cancels the subscription. Project deletion removes its deployments and data, so export anything needed before using that route.

## At a glance
