## Cancel in a web browser

> This guide is CockroachDB Cloud (Basic, Standard and Advanced). Self-hosted CockroachDB is not billed here.

1. **Sign in to the CockroachDB Cloud Console** Log in at cockroachlabs.cloud. The Clusters page is shown after login.
2. **Turn off deletion protection if it is on** Open the cluster Overview, click Settings, then Edit next to deletion protection, toggle it off and click Save.
3. **Select Delete cluster** Click the three-dots menu and select Delete cluster.
4. **Confirm the cluster name** Enter the cluster name and click Delete. This deletes all cluster data and cannot be restored. Repeat for every billable cluster.

> **Warning:** Deleting a cluster deletes its data. Managed backups are kept for the configured retention window and still incur backup storage costs.

## Cancel a team plan

1. **Use a Cluster Admin account** Deleting a cluster requires the Cluster Admin role on that cluster, folder or organization.
2. **Delete the organization when every cluster is gone** On the organization Information page click Delete, enter the organization name and click Delete. This deletes all clusters and user data and cannot be reversed.
3. **Cancel marketplace billing in AWS or Google Cloud** For AWS Marketplace, open Manage Subscriptions, select CockroachDB (pay-as-you-go), then Actions, then Cancel Subscription, then Accept. For Google Cloud Marketplace, open Marketplace orders and choose Cancel Order. Add another payment method within 6 hours or clusters may be deleted.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** The Cockroach Labs SaaS terms state that Service Fees are paid in US dollars and are nonrefundable. Standard and Advanced clusters are billed only while running. After deletion, retained managed backups can still incur backup storage costs.
- **Pausing:** No account-level pause is documented. Basic compute can scale down to zero. Standard and Advanced keep provisioned capacity charges while the cluster is running.
- **Downgrading:** Cockroach documents changing a cluster plan between Basic and Standard, and from those plans to Advanced. Deleting a cluster stops future running-cluster charges. Standard provisioned capacity can be decreased at most three times in a 7-day period.
- **Account data:** Deleting a cluster deletes all cluster data and cannot be restored. Managed backups remain for the configured retention time and still incur storage costs. Deleting an organization deletes all clusters and user data and cannot be reversed. Free Basic clusters may be deleted after 6 months of no activity.

## At a glance

- Cancellation fee: None documented
- Refund window: None; fees are nonrefundable
- Effective: When the cluster is no longer running
- Free plan after: Basic with $15 monthly credit if a card stays on file

## FAQ

**When do CockroachDB Cloud charges stop?**

You are billed only while a Standard or Advanced cluster is running. Delete the cluster to stop those charges from accumulating.

**Can I get a refund from Cockroach Labs?**

No. The SaaS terms say Service Fees are nonrefundable.

**What happens to backups after I delete a cluster?**

Managed backups are kept for the configured retention time and backup storage costs still apply.

**Does deleting the organization cancel billing?**

It deletes all clusters and user data. Cockroach Labs keeps a card on file after the organization is deleted so pending charges can be processed.

**Is CockroachDB Dedicated still offered?**

Dedicated clusters were renamed CockroachDB Advanced. This guide covers Cloud Basic, Standard and Advanced, not self-hosted only.
