# How to cancel Box

Cancel Box Personal Pro from Account Settings: select the account avatar, open Account Settings, then choose Cancel Account under Account Details and confirm. It takes about 3 minutes, and the paid account cancels at the end of the service term. Box services are generally prepaid and non-refundable, including renewals.

## Cancel in a web browser

1. **Open Account Settings** For Personal Pro, select the account avatar, choose Account Settings and find Account Details.
2. **Select Cancel Account** Choose Cancel Account, complete the survey and select Continue.
3. **Confirm permanent cancellation** Select Permanently Cancel My Account. The paid account cancels at the end of the service term.

## Cancel a team plan

1. **Use the account administrator** Only a Business or Enterprise account administrator can cancel the organization subscription.
2. **Open Account & Billing** In the Admin Console, open Account & Billing and select Cancel Account in the Status field.
3. **Finish and verify cancellation** Continue through the dialogs and select Cancel My Account. Confirm the cancellation email arrives; otherwise contact cancel@box.com.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Box services are generally prepaid and non-refundable, including renewals. Early termination remains subject to the full contract term. An eligible renewal refund request can be submitted to Billing, but eligibility is not guaranteed.
- **Pausing:** No Box subscription pause option is documented.
- **Downgrading:** An administrator can request a downgrade through cancel@box.com, processed at the end of the term when eligible. Free Personal has 10 GB; files remain, but uploads stop while storage exceeds the limit.
- **Account data:** Paid cancellation takes effect at the end of the term. Organization users can lose access after deactivation and new individual accounts do not inherit old content. Permanent free-account deletion is separate and blocks email reuse in Box for 120 days.

**Does Box stop immediately after cancellation?**
