# How to cancel Bitwarden

Cancel personal Bitwarden Premium in the web app under Settings and Subscription; organization owners use Admin Console, Billing and Subscription. ## Cancel in a web browser

> Personal subscriptions are cancelled in the Bitwarden web app.

1. **Open Subscription** In the Bitwarden web app, go to Settings, then Subscription.
2. **Check the Next charge date** The Next charge date is when paid features will end after cancellation.
3. **Select Cancel subscription** Confirm the cancellation. The account stays in Pending cancellation until the Next charge date, then moves to a free account.

## Cancel a team plan

> Only an organization owner can access and cancel its subscription.

1. **Open the Admin Console** Use the product switcher to open the Admin Console. Only organization owners can access the subscription page.
2. **Open Billing, then Subscription** Note the Subscription expiration date, then scroll down.
3. **Select Cancel subscription** Confirm the cancellation. The organization remains Pending cancellation until the expiration date, when the subscription ends.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Bitwarden offers a 30-day refund policy on paid services. Its cancellation guide says to contact support for a refund when the subscription is less than 30 days old.
- **Pausing:** No subscription pause option is documented in Bitwarden's official pricing, cancellation, terms or billing pages. Before the term ends, a pending cancellation can be reversed with Reinstate Subscription.
- **Downgrading:** A cancelled personal subscription moves to a free account on the Next charge date. Organization subscriptions end on the Subscription expiration date. Choosing a lower service level can remove access to paid content, features or capacity.
- **Account data:** Cancelling the subscription does not delete the account or organization. Deletion is separate and permanent, cannot be undone or restored, and deletes all associated vault data. Deleting an account or organization does not automatically cancel its subscription, so cancel first and export needed vault data before deletion.
