# How to cancel BigCommerce

Cancel BigCommerce from the Account Dashboard by clicking Cancel Store. Request it at least 2 business days before the Billing Date. It takes about 5 minutes and ends at the close of the current billing period if that notice is met. Commerce says fees are non-refundable.

## Cancel in a web browser

> Core, Growth and Scale can request cancellation from the Account Dashboard Cancel store section.

1. **Open the Account Dashboard** Sign in to the BigCommerce control panel and open the Account Dashboard for the store.
2. **Click Cancel Store** Scroll to the Cancel store section and click Cancel Store. Core, Growth and Scale stores can submit a cancellation request there. Follow the prompts shown.
3. **Send the request at least 2 business days before the Billing Date** If that notice is late, the store renews for one more period and then cancels at the end of that period.

## Cancel a team plan

1. **Performance and contracted Scale follow the order form** Performance plans use contracts. Scale may also have a negotiated rate. Use the account team or support instead of assuming the self-serve Cancel Store path.

## Refunds, pausing, downgrades and your data

- **Refunds:** Commerce Fees and Billing terms say fees are non-refundable, including prepaid unused time. The public pricing FAQ also says BigCommerce does not offer refunds and points to the 15-day free trial instead.
- **Pausing:** BigCommerce documents no store-plan pause.
- **Downgrading:** A chosen downgrade takes effect at the start of the next renewal period. Commerce does not credit or refund the remainder of the current prepaid period. Plans can also auto-upgrade when trailing-twelve-month GMV crosses the plan cap.
- **Account data:** The Master Services Agreement says Commerce may delete archived data within 30 days after termination or cancellation. Trial stores that are not upgraded are kept 90 days on the pricing page, then deleted. Back up files before you cancel.
